Privacy Policy

Oh Tidepool is a field guide and trip-planning companion for tidepool visitors. It is designed without visitor accounts, advertising, or developer-operated user profiles.

Information the app keeps for you

Your selected sites, alert preferences, temperature preference, and optional display name are kept on your device. If iCloud is enabled for the app, those preferences may sync privately through your own Apple account and across your Apple devices. Oh Tidepool does not receive or operate that iCloud data.

Location and notifications

Location is optional. If you allow it, the app uses your approximate current position on your device to help show nearby tidepools; it is not sent to Oh Tidepool. Notifications are optional local alerts scheduled by your device for the visit windows you select.

Public conditions and field-guide information

The app retrieves public tide, marine, and weather information directly on your device from public data providers. It also includes a bundled tidepool catalog and field guide. No visitor account, password, email address, or personal profile is required to use the app.

No sale or advertising use

Oh Tidepool does not sell personal information, run advertising, or build a cross-app advertising profile. The app does not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
