Licences & data sources

Oh Tidepool brings together photos and public shoreline, tide, and weather data. Each item keeps its own licence and attribution; the app aggregates them and does not relicense them. Nothing in the app's terms restricts the rights those licences grant.

Photos

Each photo is credited in the app under Settings → Photo credits, with its creator, source page, and licence link. The reviewed set is public-domain U.S. federal work, CC0, CC BY, or CC BY-SA. Where a CC BY-SA image was cropped or resized, the app states that the derivative itself is offered under the same or a later ShareAlike licence.

CARI rocky-shore geometry — GPL-3.0-or-later

The static rocky-shore outlines are derived from the California Aquatic Resources Inventory (CARI) v3.3, published by the San Francisco Estuary Institute, and are offered under GPL-3.0-or-later. The derived geometry and the script that produced it are published here as the Corresponding Source:

This geometry is a static mapped rocky-intertidal boundary. It is not a predicted waterline, navigational chart, safe route, or real-time access condition.
